Alex Chubaty has spent well over a decade in the food, beverage, and hospitality industry and is one of only a select few people in the state to hold a full Sommelier Certification from The Court of Master Sommeliers, which he has held since 2018.
His interest with wine began with its distillate, brandy, which continues to be a huge passion. He has spent a lot time in the Cognac region of France as well as most of the major French wine regions. Every somm has that one special bottle that turned them on to the vast world of wine, and for Alex, that was a bottle of 1996 Chateau d'Yquem Sauternes, though he holds a soft spot for the 1854 vintage Hardy Cognac he was able to try. "It predates the civil war. Tasting something like that really gives you some perspective on the level of craftsmanship that is put into what we drink” said Chubaty.
His love affair with the Old World style wines of Europe can be seen represented extensively on the wine menu and he would be thrilled to help you find that special gem of a wine from his meticulously curated cellar.
When he has been able to, he hosts wine classes and private wine pairing events.
He is currently working to begin study for an Advanced Sommelier Certification.
